Dear Westover Hills Resident,
We would like to make you aware of an aggravated robbery incident that occurred last night in Westover Hills.
At approximately 7:00 P.M. in the 2000 block of Canterbury Drive, a female was leaving a party hosted by one of our residents. A vehicle, occupied by two males wearing ski masks and gloves, approached the female. One on the suspects pointed a pistol at the female and demanded her purse. The suspects took the purse and fled in a dark colored SUV.
Westover Hills Police received notification of the incident 45 minutes after the incident and officers were dispatched to the area, including two on-duty officers, an off-duty officer and the Police Chief. All four officers responded and canvased the surrounding area and did not locate the vehicle.
Westover Hills Police were notified later by Fort Worth Police that two separate robberies occurred in Fort Worth last night suspected to be the same subjects and vehicle. Fort Worth Police were able to provide a partial license plate number obtained from a Fort Worth victim. A review of the Westover Hills video system located the vehicle coming through the Town and provided a complete license plate number. Westover Hills Police are now investigating with Fort Worth Police and have sent a bulletin to all police agencies in Tarrant County regarding the incident with suspect and vehicle descriptions.
Westover Hills Police has increased patrol procedures throughout Town neighborhoods to increase police visibility. Our police officers are vigilant, but they are unable to be on every street all of the same time. Therefore, particularly during this holiday season, should you notice anything suspicious or out of the ordinary at any time, or for any reason, please report it immediately to the Police Department so they can respond. The Westover Hills Police telephone number is (817) 737-3127.
Your safety is our greatest concern. The Police Chief has posted holiday crime tips on the Town’s website for your convenience. We are also exploring a new notification policy and system to inform residents immediately of breaking crime information and hazardous events. We will share more on this topic very soon.
